Alzeimer's disease in short

Close to Amsterdam, Dirck Swaab, from the Dutch Institute on Brain Research, showed the favorable influence of testosterone on rats' brains. Observation under the microscope indicates that nerve cells are well ramified in the young rat. These ramifications disappear in old rats but reappear under the influence of testosterone implants. The phenomenon is most probably the same one in man.

6% of people of more than 65  reach insanity of variable gravity, caused by the deterioration of nervous ramifications and appearance of senile plaques in their cerebral structures. Not counting the fundamental impact of testosterone on the maintenance of cerebral arteries'diameter, can one neglect the regenerating effect of male hormones on ramifications of the brain's nerve cells?

 Testosterone:

  • Allows growth and ramification of nervous fibers.
  • Prevents arterial atheroma.
  • It inhibits the production of amyloid protein and, consequently, its deposit in the brain's senile plaques (4-5). Download pdf.

A drug can only reach the diseased areas of the brain if the cerebral arteries are permeable.

Therefore, in order for natural molecules such as hormones or drug molecules to reach the brain cells, it is essential to first keep the cerebral arteries healthy.
